In regards to the end of the nWo in WCW, here's the Reader's Digest version:
nWo Hollywood and nWo Wolfpac merged back together in January 1999, with Kevin Nash giving the world title to Hollywood Hogan, after Nash had ended Goldberg's streak at Starcade in December 1998. Hogan, Nash, Hall, Steiner, Bagwell, and Luger formed the Wolfpac, the nWo elite. The second-tier black and white was whittled down to Brian Adams, Vincent, Scott Norton, Stevie Ray, and Horace Hogan. But it didn't last long -- by the middle of 1999, the nWo black and white had all gone their separate ways, Bagwell was ousted, Hall was still battling alcoholism, Luger was injured, and finally Hogan turned face and feuded with Nash.
Then in January 2000, the nWo was reformed, with Hall, Nash, Bret Hart, Jeff Jarrett, and Scott Steiner. It seemed so promising, but as mentioned earlier the booking during this period was deplorable. Within a few weeks, Hart was ousted, Hall was injured, and Jarrett, Nash, and Steiner all feuded with each other. After subjecting us to an nWo that inlcuded only Jarrett and the Harris brothers, the nWo was finally pulled. That was the last time the nWo was seen on WCW television.

Wow, great idea about ending the nWo, IAMTHEREALRICKYMAC. That would make sense and it'd be damned cool as well. The nWo went stale in late 97 already and it should never have lasted as long as it did.
Though I think much of the heat was killed off with the questionable booking in that awful Sting/Hogan match from Starrcade'97.
I swear, I love myself more than anyone I know. It's amazing.

I actually do think that was the plan. Yes, it was awful booking, but hey... Though, what I really want to know is how Nick Patrick could not count fast!!! He did a normal 3-count, not fast not slow, which made it look like Hogan was screwed out of the title. Horrible.
