They cut too many of the tapes

When you own PPV tapes, it is a mixed blessing. On one hand, you are helping to
preserve the memory and history of WCW. On the other hand, Any event before
Beach Blast 93 you must be very suspicious of. WCW was notorious for taking
3 hour events and cutting out so many matches so that they could accomodate a
VHS tape. A few examples include Capital Combat which they cut out three matches
to fit on a tape and Superbrawl 3 where they took one match off so I would be
2 hours. They only thing that cutting these matches accomplishes is you don't
get the entire picture but a very one sided one. Also Halloween Havoc 91
originally featured 11 matches but 5 were cut to put on a tape. I believe that
they were wrong to do this. Do the rest of you believe the same thing?

Of course they were wrong to do it.

Why did they do it anyways? Ted Turner being an actual Billionaire and all couldn't afford it? That can't be it.

I know VHS Tapes were expensive (even for rent in the early '90s). It could cost you $50 - $90 just to rent videos. Were VHS' just in poor condition at the time? Could they not hold that extra bit of footage?

Does anybody have an answer to this?
