who should've ended Goldberg's streak?

i always dreamed it'd be Sting.

He is a boy who never grew up. Peter Pan™

My picks were Raven and Hollywood Hogan.

Even though Hogan was a badguy (and a veteran) I usually rooted for him.

Raven was my main pick. Realistically he had the best chance considering it was Ravens rules and he had the Flock at ringside. Plus I didnt expect his title reign to end so early.

Well personally I think it should have been either Sting, Ric Flair, DDP or Bret Hart cause it was just dumb when nash won the title then threw it away to hogan.

Sting, Bret Hart or 'Big Poppa Pump'Scott Steiner who was on fire with his new gimmick and could still wrestle before he got too built.

reply

If anyone, Rey jr or one of the horseman

I never make mistakes.I thought I did once,but I was mistaken.

reply

Scott Norton. Seriously. The guy was built like a tank and it would have given him instant credibility. Why WCW didn't elevate him into a Goldberg rival I'll never know. Meng would have been a perfect choice, too, for the same reasons.

reply

Scott Steiner! They pushed him far too late, he should of got the World Title years before he did plus Steiner VS Goldberg at Fallbrawl 2000 was a hard hitting decent slug fest with Steiner coming out the winner.

reply

1. Sting

2. Scott Steiner

3. The Giant (Big Show)

4. Chris Benoit

5. Bret Hart

6. Hulk Hogan (or Ric Flair)

8. Lex Luger

No taser or interfering bs...just a straight up pinfall victory.

reply

Bret Hart.

Bret Hart.

God knows they could have at least given him that accolade.

WCW had no idea what to do with Hart.

What do you mean, "You people"?

A drunken Scott Hall with the taser!

I don't care enough about my posts to proofread. If your only response is corrections, save it!

In reponse to Bret Hart and Scott Norton as possibilities:

Yeah WCW should have did more with Hart but ending Goldberg's streak shouldn't have been for him. Fans would look back and say that WCW wasted Goldberg's streak on a 40 year old coming from WWE. Hart ended up with 2 victories over Goldberg anyway. To be fair, I think there would be naysayers no matter who ended the streak.

Scott Norton is a good pick. He's a legit tough guy and WCW always hyped him as one of the baddest dudes around. I wish WCW had built him up more since he was IWGP champion. However, there's a reason he was more famous in Japan.

Reboot, restart or re-imagining is another word for remake

Sting - Sting was about to beat Goldberg in a match on Nitro in late 1998 that Hogan interferred in, causing Goldberg to retain the belt, and that match went over pretty well with fans. It could have easily been set up for a PPV rematch that would have genereated a lot of interest, but I don't know if Goldberg losing to Sting -- an establish superstar and champion -- would have been getting the most out of the angle.

DDP - The hype leading up to their FallBrawl (I think) match was great, and I actually thought DDP might win and that it was his time. But I don't think that at this point in the game, DDP would have been the viable champion WCW needed to keep ratings from WWF.

Kevin Nash (clean) - Nash was over, loved and -- having played an instrumental role in what brought wrestling's popularity back to begin with -- deserving at this point. As a champion, I think he could be an even bigger draw. I think the storyline possibilities are there too, regardless of whether you keep the Wolfpac going or do the merger.

Booker T, Chris Jericho or Chris Benoit - Basically, any younger superstar who had any heat and enough experience could have been instantly propelled into main event status and lead WCW into the new millenium by ending the streak and becoming champ. This would be beneficial to: calm the notion that WCW main-eventers are mainly over 40, give WCW a new major superstar to main event instead of the usual suspects, and a new star to generate merchandise revenue. It also opens up new storyline possibilities while the nWo merger just brought things back to early '98.

Jericho shouldn't be anywhere near the WCW world title or any world title. He was just a mid card tart.
