One of mine is Raven vs Goldberg in a raven's rules match. Although Raven didn't win it, it was a classic.

I do miss WCW from 1996-1998, all the years inbetween can just fade from memory because these were the only ones that mattered.

Your day could be worse

reply

My favourite moment from WCW Monday Nitro was when Vince McMahon appeared on the last episode to announce his acqusition of the company.

WOLFPAC N DA HOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE

So what was the greatest match u saw live? i liked sting vs ddp

reply

Anything with the cruiserweights (Misterio, Malenko, etc.) as well as Jericho and Benoit. Those mid-card matches were superb. One of my faves, although off screen, was when Teddy Long was bringing out Ice Train to the ring and you could see very clearly coming up the entrance ramp that he fell on his ass face first. He wasn't hurt, but was shaky walking to the ring. Sorry, I found that hilarious!

Favorite moments-

- Horsemen reform and Flair calls out Bischoff
- Goldberg beats Hogan (should have been a PPV match, but it was great)
- n.W.o. Horsemen skit

5) Tie between The Giant taking a smoke break during a Match and People always pelting the ring with Garbage from 1996-2000

4) "The Outsider" Scott Hall interupts a Match, and invades the WCW.

3) The Spring Breakout Episodes from 1997 - 1999. Whoever thought of surronding the outside of the ring with Water, and puting it on a little Island is a Genius. This was greatest Set Ever in Pro Wrestling History!

2) Goldberg vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan on July 6, 1998 at the Georgia Dome.
Goldberg won the Heavyweight Championship for the first time and the Place f_cking exploded. People in the nose bleed section were throwing Toilet Paper in celebration. This was Truly one of the greatest Moments in Wrestling History.

1) NWO attacks WCW in on July 29, 1996 during the Main Event. Sting, Savage, and Luger were taking on Flair, Benoit, and McMichael then all of a sudden Jimmy Hart yells at the Camera Man to go to the back, because "The Outsiders are in the back". Then Jimmy gets on the apron and yells at Luger about it.
Backstage The NWO beat up people with Baseball Bats and Big Sexy throws Rey Mysterio head first into a production Truck. When the WCW Stars get backstage, the NWO run to their Limos. Apparently residents of the neighborhood called the Police about "Gang Warfare", and you can clearly hear a Woman screaming "Oh My God! Somebody get some Help!". Randy Davage jumps on the Roof of the Limo as they speed off, ending the greatest Nitro in WCW History.

Defently the whole Sting/Crow phase leading up to Starcade '97, Hogan against the Dungeon of Doom, Larry's comentary, Megadeth on Nitro, the return of the Ultimate Warrior storyline with Sting, DDP and Roddy Piper, and of course... The Nitro Girls ;)

reply

yeah I have to go with the hogan vs. goldberg match

reply

[deleted]

yeah that was a good match, but I think, that the wwe tribute was cool too...cuz they were really showing their real feelings

reply

5 the Bill goldberg vs Hogan match was one of the best. seeing 39000 people rise on their feet when he picked him up for the jackhammer was something special.
4 The matches from the best of 7 series with booker T and Benoit were some of the best matches on Nitro.
3 the night after Flair won the title at Uncencored 99 when he was getting interviewed and then Hogan came out, followed by Bill Goldberg and then finally Nash all claiming to deserve a shot at the title. The part where Nash got in Bill's face and said something like "and you got one lose and you're looking at it!" got a huge cheer and it seemed like Nash just stuck that one in just to stick it to goldberg.
2 The reformation of the horsemen because of the real beef between Flair and Eric.
1 Norman Smiley! nuff said!

reply

NORMAN SMILEY! ARE YOU SERIOUS? AND THIS IS THE SAME GUY THAT DISAGREES THAT TRIPLE HHH ISN'T ONE OVE THE BEST BAD GUYS OVE ALL TIME

reply

Get it right guy! I never said that he wasnt one of the best bad guys of all time. I said that he wont surpass guys like Piper as the best of all time! If you read some of the post you would realize that I clearly stated that he was the best bad guy out right now! As far as the Norman Smiley comment goes I think that you're forgetting that this message board is about opinions. Plus I was being funny. But if you really wont a number 1 then I'll give it to you. This is so bad that its good. Nothing can beat Tony Schiavone constantly saying on a weekly basis..........................................................
THIS! LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! IS WITHOUT QUESTION THE MOST IMPORTANT NIGHT IN OUR SPORT!!!!!!!

reply

yeah, yeah, yeah I bet u really thought that norman smiley is the number one reason why nitro is great, which is part ove the reason why i can never explain to you why triple hhh is better than piper, the only past superstar that can't be matched is THE HULKSTER BROTHER

reply

What does Norman Smiley have to do with HHH? What do you mean about the Hogan comment? I think you need to calm down about this whole HHH thing because you're the one thats trying to pass an opinion off as fact("bold yes, but also true.") and you cant even back it up. You still havent answered the question from your HHH board. This board is not why Nitro is great. Its about peoples favorite moments from Nitro and Norman Smiley happens to be one of them because when ever he was on he was entertaining since he was a goof ball! In fact 2 of my good friends are Norman Smiley fans and one of them started a video tape called "The Smiley Files" of his nitro matches.

"THIS! IS THE MOST IMPORTANT NIGHT IN THE HISTORY OF OUR SPORT!!!!!!!

I can see that u and two ove your friends are herbs, because norman smiley was a joke... and why would any body like him? that triple hhh is post is coming okay so just calm down..

reply

No you weren't. That match took place in the Georgia Dome. Thanks for playing though.

Boy is trigster wrong!!!

"I was there that night @ Phillips Arena(Atlanta,GA)" This would be believeable except that the match took place on July 6,1998(i remember the date because it was my 16th birthday) and Phillips arena didn't open its doors until 1999.

Don't adjust your television set, I am this good looking.

When Goldberg beat Hogan to win the title, when Sting appeared from nowhere in the first show with the last "new" stage (after being out for almost a year), and the following week (I was at this one, so I'm a bit biased here) when Rowdy Roddy Piper showed up unannounced before the final match. Later I saw on TV that his arrival WAS pre-announced there. Much better in the arena.

Man I loved Nitro. My favorite Nitro moment was during the Nitro after Hog Wild 1996. Hogan had just made the nWo with Hall and Nash. The Nitro was held outdoors near Walt Disney MGM studios in Orlando Florida. A limo pulls up in the back stage lot. Hall and Nash come out first, then Hogan. A few wrestlers are milling around, then Hogan calls out the command to Hall and Nash "Get 'em, boys!" There are skits all throughout the show, in one of then Rey Mysterio climbs up on the steps of a trailer and jumps on Kevin Nash. Nash just grabs him like a stuffed animal, holds him over his shoulder like a spear and throws Rey head first into the trailer! Such great stuff. The show ends with the WCW wrestlers attacking Hall, Nash, and Hogan. The nWo guys get in their limo and escape for their lives. Macho Man jumps onto the windshield of the limo as it speeds off. What a show!

I'm sorry, but Disco Inferno was the funniest (and to me, the most entertaining) wrestler in WCW. I remember I think it was on Nitro, one of the few shocking and worthwhile surprises was this 6 way luchedore match. And they all went completely nuts on each other for like 15 mins and at the very end one of the luchedors wins the match and pulls off his mask and it was Disco Inferno underneath.

Favorite moments: Anything where Disco Inferno and Raven noticably had creative influence over their chrs.

reply

Rey Mysterio getting launched into the truck by Nash.
Scott Hall getting chucked into the pool at Spring Breakout 1998
Rey Mysterio almost winning the WCW World Heavyweight Title at Spring Breakout 1999, and the aftermath.... LOADS more but those stick out.

reply

I absolutely LOVED Sting, i still have 2 posters of him and one of thoses masks hanging on my wall. Alot of the stuff doing with him are the highlights for me. When the NWO dropped the dummy/sting from the rafters an it went through the ring floor and they picked it up putting it over the edge of the ring so Hogan could poke fun at it and it end up being the real Sting. I loved when he had all those FauxSting's coming out of the crowd and the NWO was dropping them left and right. SyxPac thinking he dropped another one and it was the real Sting and gave him a SDD. I love the whole dropping from the rafters thing, for me it was the highlight of every show. Then there was always the times like when Ultimate Warrior showed up, the first time Roddy Piper showed up and handed Hogan his ass. I liked when someone would get too mouthy with The Living Ledgend and he would beat their asses. This was my FAVORITE show for so long and i was so proud that i actually got to go to a WCW event. It wasnt too much longer till WWF bought it. It was about the time Sting was battling Vampiro. Anyways i miss the show alot, maybe TNA will fill the void in time but im pretty sure there will never be anything like Monday nights 8-7 central on TNT.
