This was an excellent performance, one of the best supporting actress performances I've seen. I've also seen Marisa is several other films, such as the disturbing In a Glass Cage and the great horror film The Devil's Backbone. She is a fantastic character actress.

I agree, I was surprised she didn't get recognition, she was the least awarded supporting player.. and she was the best.
shareI agree. It's a shame the other supporting players got recognized more than her, I thought she was the highlight. Antonia San Juan was obviously going to get some (well-deserved) credit come awards season, but Paredes was fantastic. Extremely nuanced, every gesture or bit of body language suggested the aging actress. She was both hilarious and heartbreaking; one of my favourite performances.
