When Manuela screams in agony, anger, confusion, and shock upon seeing her son being killed by a car is haunting. She howls like a mother losing her child. Her pain is authentic. Almodovar's story is twisted, dark, and so inspiring. Imagine being young and married and living away from your spouse, only to return to him to find that he has a pair of boobs. Even though he was transforming into a women, he still mistreated Manuela and was a machista. The characters are so amazing as well.

Lets not forget Penelope the pregnant HIV infected nun...GREAT FILM!!! ONE OF MY FAVORITES!!!

Actually Manuela did know that Lola had boobs, he got them done along with Agrado while she was still living with him, it was no shocker, the ony thing that may have been surprising (which I doubt it given to Lola's lifestyle) was that he had AIDS and had a brief relation with Rosa.

As for Cecilia Roth, her performance was perfect, the story was captivating and the character very interesting, this is Almodovar at his best

She really was amazing in this role. I also very much enjoyed the actress that played Huma Rojo, she was great, too. I love this film!
