Daniel Bryan takes a shot at Foley and Steph for being onscreen too much

For those who didn't notice, neither Daniel Bryan nor Shane McMahon appeared on Smackdown tonight. Bryan did appear on Talking Smack afterwards, and when asked about not appearing on the show tonight, Bryan said he was busy tonight and didn't need to be on camera. He then went on to say the following:

"Shane and I have a very different philosophy from Mick and Stephanie McMahon, we don't need to make ourselves out there all the time. Tonight we didn't really need to be out there, the action itself was awesome."

This to me is one of the reasons that Smackdown has been the superior show to Raw. It's a show in which McMahons or authority figures (sorry, Mick) are not the focus, and it's so refreshing to have a WWE product not be presented that way.

There's only one storyline where Bryan is a focus and it's a midcard feud. and even now he seems to have stepped aside completely for Ziggler.

The booking really is the key difference. Clash of Champions showed that Raw can put together a killer card, some really good in ring action, but then squander it with asinine booking. Whereas Smackdown can take a somewhat weak card and turn it into gold.

You know, I would actually argue that The Miz, not DB, was the focus of that storyline, but you're right in that it is a major storyline that DB was a part of. But what made that work so extremely well is the fact that DB totally sold the verbal attack that Miz put on him. You would never see that from Steph. I think the major difference with the DB/Miz dynamic is that it really is only being done to get heat on the Miz, as opposed to trying to help Bryan.

I agree about CoC, other than the Nia Jax match (which I won't even say was a bad match, it just was what it was), all the matches on the show were very good. It's just the finishes of the matches, in some cases the winners, and the motivations surrounding the matches that detracted from the show.

Smackdown really is the better show right now.
