Changing the ropes

Do they change the ropes entirely for the CWC matches? Or is just the lighting in the arena? If they do change them, that's gotta take up like 15-20 minutes each time, seems like a waste of time, unless they just do backstage promos during it,

They change the ropes and the turnbuckle pads.

Unless you've got a team of trained professionals who know what they're doing. And considering Raw is live, they clearly do.

unless they just do backstage promos during it,

When did you think they do it?

You are sin.

reply

You've obviously never been to Raw live. It's amazing what the crew can do during a commercial break.

I have been to multiple, not since the new turnbuckles, but it's like I said a 15 minute process, just seems like a waste for some ugly ass purple ropes, I completely understand switching it up from superstars to raw but for the CWC its unnecessary,

but it's like I said a 15 minute process

You know it's not a one man crew, right? Where are you getting this 15 minutes from?

for the CWC its unnecessary,

Incorrect. The CWC was designed specifically with a completely different look, which included turnbuckles and ropes. It helped the tournament stand out. Especially since each show has its own color: red, blue, yellow.

Then, you saw the crew change the ropes from Superstars white to Raw red in a few minutes.

Hey man, I don't really want to keep arguing bout this because it's not that important, but that video is clearly cut, they are still working on the bottom rope almost 1 and a half minutes in, then a guy stands up, the video cuts, and they are finish the top. So they most certainly don't do it in under two minutes.

reply

Actually I was at Night of Champions and they changed the ropes for the Cruiserweight match there as well and it was indeed in under two minutes. It was quite a site to watch to be honest with ya.

reply

TheSteve239, my point was that if you were there live, then you saw them change the ropes in a few minutes. It took a longer than in the video but it didn't take 15 minutes like you kept insisting.

1:40 for one set of ropes basically. 3 ropes would take 5:00 then.

5:00. Not bad. Plenty of time to do it during a commercial break and a backstage segment.

It would make more sense to put the cruiserweight matches together so they don't have to redress the ring more than twice.

reply

You know, I'm wondering if there's a physical difference between the red ropes and the purple. Like, maybe the purple ropes have less give and are better for high-flying/springboard maneuvers.

This person on Twitter put up a video clip, showing that they cover the ropes with purple tape for CW matches:

Thanks, now that makes more sense than taking the time to completely change them
