but why does she auto get a title shot? I thought only TNA did that type of a thing.
Because she was a huge star in WWE. It's not like Mickie is some random indy worker.
And NXT is low on female stars who could be legit contenders for a Takeover special.
I'm sure they probably don't wanna rush into Ember Moon vs. Asuka, which seems like it could be Asuka's last big feud before going to the main roster after next year's Wrestlemania. And Nikki Cross is just getting started.

I have heard Mickie say in interviews she wants to return to WWE for one last one and has been in talks with the company but nothing came out of it before. Do you know if she is going to be on the main roster too 'cause I would love to see Mickie face Sasha, Bayley and Charlotte.

Do you all know what this means? For the first time, WWE has let a woman who has had a baby wrestle for them! They're lightening up! But they may have to promise to not get pregnant again as long as they are under contract to wrestle, otherwise they might be let go.
