Survivor Series

I can't remember a Survivor Series match that was any good.

The basic problem is it really doesn't matter who wins, there are no belts at stake, and no individual feuds. With the Brand split there can't be a feud.

If you can remember a great one, please remind me.

I'm getting tired of naming them, but there have been plenty of elimination matches that are awesome. It doesn't matter if there are no belts on the line, it's the gimmick of the last team standing that sells. I just wish they'd mix and match them more like the wildcard match in 1995, heels and faces being forced to work together.

2003-Team Lesnar vs Team Angle, Team Austin vs Team Bischoff (arguably the best ever)
2005-Team Raw vs Team Smackdown
2007-Team HHH vs Team Umaga

Team Powers Of Pain vs. Team Demoltion - 2nd Annual (1988)
Ultimate Warriors vs. The Heenan Family - 3rd Annual (1989)
Team Nature Boy vs. Team Hot Rod - 5th Annual (1991)

BodyDonnas vs. The Underdogs - 9th Annual (1995)
*I think that's where Marty Jannetty gave Skip a superbomb. Mid-card guys always shined at Survivor Series. The event is pretty underrated. Remember when they announced to discontinue it (I think this was 2010 aka the lacklustre period)?

Grand Finale Survivors match - 4th Annual (1990)
*I don't know why they haven't made this an ongoing concept? This year would be perfect for it. "Wild card" makes no sense for a brand vs. brand elim-tag match. But it would make more sense if they did a Soul Survivors match to freshen things up. Brand vs. Brand tag matches have been done to death (and many haven't even taken place at Survivor Series).

Probably has to do with the change of format. 1990 was the last Survivor series to have all elimination matches, which is the only way this concept really works within a given time frame. Trying to squeeze in elimination matches and a grand finale with all the other stuff (world title matches, women's match, etc.) would be rough even with 4 hours.

I guess I have a far worse memory than some of you. I can't imagine how you remember all those details.

I mostly didn't like it when there were a bunch of championship matches and feuds, and the Survivor Series match was kind of a meaningless after thought.

I hope this time they throw in twists, like the heels slugging the faces on their team and so on. And if the finish ends up something like Styles Vs Owens, that would be fantastic. If they are still champions then Styles Vs. Rollins would be great, too.

I've only got to go back to 2014 and there's one. Maybe the match type just isnt your cup of tea, which is fine.

The two best by far in my opinion are 2001 and 2014

Even with fewer elim-tag matches, it still could be done.

Hmm... I love Survivor Series matches I've found it one of WWE's greatest tragedies that they've barely used them for the past decade. Maybe it isn't hugely important who wins most of the time, but they can still make for super great drama, can produce tremendous performances, and can really make stars. See Team Austin vs. Team Bischoff in 2003, or Reigns performance in 2013 the first night it really looked like he had what it took to be the next big thing. Team Cena vs. Team Authority in 2014 was probably the best match in the WWE that year.

In the old days some of them maybe went on a liiiiittle long for my liking, but man those matches can tell numerous great stories in a single match. They're beautiful to watch when they're done well.
