Wonder Boys to Californication
It is interesting that Californication took the story behind Wonder Boys and turned it around. Cali takes place on the beach instead of Pitts in the winter. In Cali the Professor fools around with all the women including the student played by Katie Holmes in WB, Susan Sarandon's daughter in Cali. In Cali the James Leer character is called Balt. Balt has a small role and no writing talent. There are many other similarities and differences.
