shareAs would be expected, some details from the book were changed (mostly concerning Tripp's wife and in-laws and the accumulation and disbursement of the various objects), a big chunk of the middle of the book is entirely missing, and the wind-up is extremely truncated. After about three days of grinding my teeth over the delicious things in the book that are not in the movie because it couldn't be five hours long, I made my peace with the wonderful results.
The money is quickly spent but the shame remains.
There were changes, but none of them seemed gratuitous. It's one of the few cases of a book I loved being turned into a film which didn't make me grind my teeth. I really enjoyed the movie.
Charmed, charmed, charmed!
