What happened to The Talking Heads?


I thought for sure I had seen an ad for this movie that used "Naive Melody" by The Talking Heads. It's not in the film or on the soundtrack. Does anyone else remember that sound being linked to this movie?

The TV spots for Wonder Boys used music from Mozart's opera The Marriage of Figaro, "Naïve Melody" by Talking Heads, and "Watching the Wheels" by John Lennon, but only the last was heard in the movie.

The theatrical trailer used "Watching the Wheels" (John Lennon), "Things Have Changed" (Bob Dylan, written for the movie), "A Child's Claim to Fame" (Buffalo Springfield) and "Slip Away" (Clarence Carter), all of which are heard in the movie, plus "Naïve Melody," which wasn't, so the Talking Heads track might have been used in a deleted scene, or otherwise removed from the movie.

However, trailers very often use music that isn't in the actual film, sometimes it's even music from other movies. Take a look at this interesting site:
