I know that Snow Day was released in 2000, but the movie seems like it should've been released during the '90s. Hell, throughout the '90s, films that revolved around kids were all the rage -- especially for the 10 to 14 range -- yet, I digress at this point.
I agree completely. Maybe because I was still pretty young when this came out (I was in the later part of my childhood though, around 12 or 13) It actually reminded me of an episode of Pete and Pete. I liked it though. What did you think of it?
the biggest bull i've heard on imdb is someone saying "religion promotes love and tolerance"
Hahaha same here... If you mentally replace the 2 generic trios of kids with big & little Pete and their entourage, you can totally envision the dialogue coming from the prospective Adventures of Pete and Pete movie.... I swear the opening monologue sounds -exactly- like it, right down to the tone of his voice. This could've been the greatest 90's film of all time, but instead was given a forced and painful 'contemporary' rehaul.
Still has loads of potential, but if you want to see an undiluted version of what this could've been, look up the Pete & Pete episode called O Christmas Pete, which is more or less the same concept, just replacing plowman with garbageman.
This is in my opinion one of the better sources of nostalgia. This movie is such a untended time frame film, it was filmed in '99 and supposed to come out before 2000 but Nick moved it so they could be the only family film out. I didn't fare well, but it was a smart strategy though.
This film is in the middle of the death of the 90's and the start of the new millennium. It has that feel to it that makes you feel nostalgic.
Eh, decades don't end right away. For instance, the 80s bled into the 90s for like 2-3 years. 2000 was basically an extension of the 90s. May have been able to squeeze another year or two from the 90s after 2000 if it wasn't for 9/11 which well...for sure ended the 90s fun/chill/"tude" atmosphere.
