Goof in the credits

The film begins and ends with a woman singing the "Ave Maria" from Verdi's opera "Otello". In the credits at the end, the singer of the aria is identified as a boys' choir! Does anyone know who the singer actually was? There's no way a boy soprano could have sounded like that.

Hi on3gin,
To me it sounded like Kiri Te Kanawa,
but I'm not sure...

i might be wrong here, but didn't it say the choir was just called 'Boys Choir' and not, 'A Boy's choir?'... i dont know, it still sounds strange but it could have been a woman singing, and her choir was just called that... Maybe it used to be all-male back in the day or something

The credits are wrong about the boy's choir, but are correct in saying that it's the Deutsche Grammophon recording conducted by Myung-Whun Chung. The soprano (Desdemona) in the recording is Cheryl Studer. The boy's choir of the Paris Opéra does appear in the complete recording, in the second act when the chorus is serenading Desdemona, but there's no chorus at all in the last act, which is where the "Ave Maria" appears. An odd mistake.

Here's that complete Otello (a pretty good recording of the opera, overall) at amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/Otello-Domingo-Studer-Leiferkus-DArcangelo/dp/B0 00001GLM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1255870554&sr=1-1

i don't get why it said united kingdom in the credits if it was made in the united states and had americans in it. was that an error too or am i not understanding something? and it DID say united kingdom. i paused and reread it 4 times.
