Do you think Hugo was secretly racist?

Not only was he jealous of Odin, it's obvious he hated his guts and may in fact have some racial tendencies in secret. In scenes when Odin & Desi were close Hugo always looked shocked(but not enough emotion to show it in his face), in the gym scene with Odin he made up the lies about white girls wanting more sex, and another lie when he told Odin that he was the *beep* Hugo may have been jealous too but he himself may have questioned himself and hated why someone like Odin, being the only black person, is attending an all white-school. Just think about it.

I never thought about that but it is possible though. I know in the original play Iago (Hugo) had made some racial references to Othello but that could simply be out of hatred for him as a person and have nothing to do with his race. I've seen that done before as well.

"Don't they know they're making love to one already dead?!"

Love Les Miserables!!!

No. His hatred of Odin had nothing to do with his being black. It really started with his dad preferring him over his own son. If anything, Hugo's true rage was directed towards his old man. Taking Odin was his revenge for that.

Hugo was just a p*ick in general; I never got a racist vibe from his character.

If we wanna hear you talk, I will shove my arm up your ass and work your mouth like a puppet!

I am sure he was not! If Odin would have been white, Hugo would have found another weakness.
