I sure has hell was, I saw this film, about five years ago, and let me tell you, during the end of it, especially Martin Sheen and John Heard's tearful reactions, I couldn't say anything at all, but, my friend sitting some six feet away was bawling her eyes out. Mekhi, Julia, Josh, Martin, Rain and John Heard delivered absolutely incrediblely realistic performances in here.

I felt like someone punched me in the face, I watched the credits for like 5 minutes before I could finally bring myself to turn the movie off.

They show him crying in the back. John Heard's character rushes there just in time to see his daughter's body being carried out on a stretcher. The police arrest Josh Hartnett's character. Great movie, hugely underrated and that damn music WILL get to you.

I thought it was a really well done film, but because I had read Othello, I knew what was going to happen. More realistic than the play, too. I mean, in the end when Othello "kills" Desdemona, he smothers her with a pillow. Not bad, but then a few minutes later she has her last lines??? Glad the movie was more realistic and made more sense.
Still, Shakespeare did a nice job with his play. The filmmakers of O just updated it for today's audiences. Nice to see.

Well, they don't call it a tragedy for nothing! :) One thing for certain in a Shakespeare tragedy is a high body count.
I guess love, gore, and war were box office hits even 400 years ago. ;)
Hugo/Iago has to be one of the best villains ever, he was smart, manipulitve(sp)friendly(meaning he fooled everyone with his Ted Bundy act) and he didn't show any remorse when everybody was dying at the end and all because of his jealousy.

I loved this movie, it grew to be one of my favorite movies, IMO this is Mekhi Phifer's BEST Movie, and I loved him in Dawn of the Dead '04, Clockers, and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. He's really matured in his films and his acting, which was evident in O, especially.
He always seems to be in a good movie, he was also good in Shaft, Brian's song and he, Angelina Jolie & William Forsythe made Hell's Kitchen worth watching (just their scenes, lol!) I loved his performances in Carmen: A Hip Hopera, High School High, Honey, 8 Mile and This Christmas.

The last act of this film was pretty *beep* incredible if you ask me. It's a pity more people haven't seen this movie. I think it's a pretty effective Shakespearean adaptation.

hugo was an amazing character. So maniplative,he had everything planned out, he is a truely great villian. I started to get speechless when odin assaulted the ball boy, but i started to get really impressed by the acting when hugo and micheal are talking and odin thinks he's talking about desy when he's talking about brandy.

Your talking about 34 minutes before, i couldn't move from in front of the TV even when the credits were up. I guess the whole movie took me by surprise it was so disturbing even when Desi and Odin was happy. I was really sad for i wanted Odin to found out about Hugo and apologize to Desi. I didn't want any of them to die. All in all this movie was brilliantly written and i loved the movie even though it was disturbing!
