That sex scene (Irreversible) is on Google videos, someone sent it to me saying, "OMG, this is scary!" . I wondered if it was real or not, it was so disturbing and intense.

Depends how old your little sister is. Im 18 and my little sister is 15 and shes seen worse. I myself though, didn't find it that disturbing. It was, but I have seen worse.

I'm 15 years old and I watched it and I wouldn't even recommend it to any of my friends. It was very disturbing, and just as some of the other people said almost rape level. It's very disturbing. I think this is rated R for a good reason

It seriously is disturbing, and this is from a female perspective. The scene becomes very graphic and a dark mood comes across as soon as he starts taking it to far against Desi. That is one scene she will remember for a long time, if she sees it, and that's not a good thing.

I agree with shaker-maker. It was nowhere near the level of "The Accused" which repulsed me. But it is seriously upsetting, because she screams "NO" at least twice and he keeps going, and she starts crying. I did have to turn away.

I understand that "NO" means "NO", but common now:
1) She gave her consent when they started.
2) She enjoyed the **** out of it until a certain point.
3) You can't just turn a yes into a no in the middle of the act. Once things get set in motion, there's a point of no return!!!!!
4) I understand there's a HUGE gery area because once his jealousy took over, it was a disturbing situation. But to call it rape, I think is stretching it. that's an insult to women who have been truly raped, which is no consent from the beginning.

Yes you can. Legally, that's when it becomes rape. It started as sex, and it became rape. It doesn't matter when it happens. When somebody says "no" and you proceed, you are committing a heinous crime.

I watched this movie tonight for the first time... I'm always EXTREMELY sensitive to rape/abuse scenes in movies, especially if the film actually goes about making it a point to show that someone is a virgin. I'm so disturbed by rape scenes that I usually will refuse to watch that part, or if I know ahead of time that a movie has rape and such in it, I'll refuse to even watch it in the first place. For example, I REFUSE to watch "Last House on the Left" because I've heard it has a brutal rape scene on a virgin girl. I will also NEVER watch "Rules of Attraction" again due to the virgin girl being roofied and raped..
That said, strangely I didn't find this scene so disturbing! Yes, she was screaming and all that and he was really slamming it in there hard [lol]... but I guess it was the fact that it was made VERY CLEAR that they really were in love, and I already knew that the sex started as truly passionate love-making, so I guess I didn't find it a truly very disturbing rape scene because it wasn't done in evil. It was sad though since it ended up escalating to that rough ending... but if anything I felt really sorry for the girl that her first time was only half good =/

I saw this movie when it first came out in 2001, which would have made me 15, and I found this movie extremely disturbing and have never watched it again. I saw the whole sex scene as rape, because it was not consentual in the end. I plan to watch the film again in the near future due to me studying the play itself in my university Shakespeare class. But I would suggest if you don't like disturbing images, like rape, I would not recommend this movie.

shareBasically they are having sex, and then when he looks in the mirror and in his mind sees another guy looking back while having sex with his girlfriend, he starts going harder, and she's in pain. Not a nice scene, but it's another incident that shows her devotion to him (in a way), because afterward there isn't a discussion between the two of them about what he did. Helps prove just how innocent she is in the end.

it was disturbing but no where near "the hills have eyes". also the entire movie of "o" was so disturbing together that the rape scene kinda fails in comparison with the movie as a whole.

Regardless of how any viewers think "She said - don't hold back" or he's in th zone, or whatever, there is a fundamental issue of respect. If both parties are not TOTALLY into it, and consenting, then it's not right. And Not Right extends to meaning rape.

It wasn't disturbing on a level to the rape scene in The Accused, but it certainly made an impact because you could almost feel how uncomfortable and painful it must have been for her... as was O's rage and brutality. I certainly wouldn't recommend the scene for viewing to children under the age of 15.

Yeah, I agree. I don't think this scene was that disturbing. I think the overall plot of the movie is EXTREMELY DISTURBING. I can't beleive in a movie that features the unspeakable evil that Josh Hartnett's character masterminds, people would stress about a ROUGH SEX SCENE where she not only gave her consent at the beginning, but through most of the act until the rough got too rough. She wasn't complaining though when she was liking the rough!!!!!!! Again, the overall plot is one of the most disturbing I HAVE EVER SEEN in any type of story. This movie is disaster to the MAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!

who are you kidding? It was graphic and violent and rape. It was consentual up until the point when she said stop and he didnt. It's funny that all the women who have commented have called this scene rape, while the men who have commented have called it sex.

Considering this is an old post, i think its pretty useless to say whether or not your sister should watch it. But, i would say to anyone else, I watched it when i was younger than a freshman, and i think its important for girls to watch it and know that that is rape. Even if they are only preteens.

And I want to reiterate that whenever a girl or guy says no, the party should stop, because anything less is rape. It comes in many forms, and I can't believe there are so many people (guys so far, I've heard) who actually think this is okay.
