Why do people say that this movie would've never be made today?
I don't get why movies like this aren't allowed to be made today.

shareThey are allowed to be made. People just like to say these things.
They also forget that this movie did attract controversy/criticism at the time. Not enough to cause it to fail or anything. But the idea that we have suddenly found ourselves in a society that does not allow anyone to push boundaries of taste and nobody used to care too much is a complete myth.

Yeah, you don't need to be in the film industry or "pushing boundaries" to be canceled these days. Just ask James Bennet, formerly of The New York Times, or any of the over 200 university professors who've been fired for "Problematic speech" since 2017
So because I've pointed out that it's basically untrue that this movie didn't raise any eyebrows twenty years ago. And busted the myth that certain things aren't "allowed" in movies like this now that once were, you've invoked an obscure, flimsy statistic about one journalist and college professors who have been cancelled in the past seven years for various reasons that you haven't provided.
What research have you done on the number of "cancelled" college professors prior to 2007 and what the reasons for their supposed cancellation was?
I should warn you, that continued, regularly and willfully speaking at crossed purposes to inject spurious arguments can have the effect of people perceiving you as having a personality disorder or just being dishonest.
