Did Charlie snap and become Hank because of the mean people in his life?

I didn't necessarily think he was a pushover. Yeah in the barber shop definitely.

What was he supposed to have done about that little girl and his moron wife leaving him?

Remember that "Hank" says that back when Charlie was married, "Hank was a big piece of the personality pie." I think Hank was trying to tell Irene that Charlie was more assertive or could control his anger. But if that's so, then why did Charlie tell the priest in the confessional that everybody in town was laughing at him? Did the situation get worse after his wife left?

reply

Yes, after Layla left he became timid, Hank tried to take over because Charlie let people walk all over him.

Although he didnt seem to have too many tough traits when he got beat up by the midget.

I think he was holding back, he didn't want to be a bully by beating up someone smaller than him (even though the smaller man was attacking him with a weapon).

reply

Yes. Hank specifically says that after his wife left him, Charlie went numb and something in him changed.

The scene with the priest shows Hank tells the truth when he says he was part of the personality pie. Charlie was feeling the rage in him but suppressed it completely after his wife left him resulting in Hank.

Straightedge means I'm better than you.

Seriously?

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?
