wow I really viewed this movie differently with age

I saw this when it was first released at the cinemas back in 2000 and I thought it was the funniest thing ever! I rewatched it last night for the first time since 2000 and man, was it terrible! all the jokes were ridiculously telegraphed and fake - the limo driver being 'offended' was so over the top it was ridiculous - and the Hank persona is more creepy than funny. almost drowning a young child and flashing his dick to some old ladies is NOT funny!

and the three black sons who swear five times in every sentence - how is saying the F word a punch line in and of itself? yes, swearing can help make something funnier but it is not a punchline in and of itself!

this movie is terrible!

Definition of troll on IMDb - anyone who expresses a view different to mine.

You admitted that you liked it back then. Don't forget this was 17 years ago and some content was probably original back then. You can't compare it to today since everything is reused for the garbage movies of today. Not to mention you're a full blown adult now.

I somewhat agree that a lot of the jokes fell flat, but the ones involving his sons were absolutely hilarious.

"..but the ones involving his sons were absolutely hilarious."

..yeah.. no, they weren't.

Ok. Hey @wrepdrep….avortac4 says those jokes aren’t funny so we can’t laugh at them. ;)

I saw this film back when it first came out in 2000. I was in junior high and I loved it.

At a certain point I "outgrew" the humor in this movie and now that I'm in my thirties if I had been my age now back in 2000 I probably wouldn't have though much of it.

But now I've circled back around to enjoying this flick very much simply because of the nostalgia and because today's excuses for comedies are so much worse.
