Every time I watch the ROTJ parody episode I get irritated at Han's observation about the Ewoks braiding Leia's hair. He makes the point that they have wooden spears with carved stones at the ends, but clearly understand the finer points of cosmetology. That is ridiculous point to make, seeing as how that is one thing that nearly every primitive culture has shown the ability to do very well.

And while you may be correct that it is done across cultures, even in primitive ones, the Ewoks don't exactly have long hair to braid... so how did they learn that fine art?
Your don't need long hair to make braids. I am sure you have seen cornrows before. I am sure the the lady Ewoks were having a field day with Leia's long locks :) The main point is that intricate braiding is not something only advanced societies are capable of mastering.
