Seth MacFarlane has a net worth of $200 million
This is according to celebrity net worth. South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone each have a personal net worth of $400 million and Matt Groening has a net worth of $500 million.

shareI can understand Matt Groening having to most money but Trey and Matt doesn't make much sense, because Seth MacFarlane has a lot more projects than them

But Seth doesn't have the wildly successful Book of Mormon.
Or South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999), Team America: World Police (2004), or South Park: Stick of Truth.
Seth does have Ted (2012), Ted 2 (2015) and A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014). Although I think that last one set him back a few bucks. Ted 2 wasn't quite the hit the first one was either.
They also co-wrote the Book of Mormon, a Tony award winning play. The soundtrack of the play made a lot of money too.

I think it because South Park remained more popular than family guy because of their updated topical relevance in games.
shareBesides family guy needs a lot of updated development in everything if they want to continue to work harder to be on top.

Family Guy has never been "on top" but has & has always had more viewers so in what way is South Park more popular?
Besides family guy needs a lot of updated development in everything if they want to continue to work harder to be on top.
South park has the better story lines and topics which are 10 times greater than family guy.
shareTrey Parker and Matt Stone have South Park Studios and they signed a deal where they get 50% of advertising money. That's the main reason. They're smarter businessmen.
shareSeth is nowhere as talented as they are. Besides the writers of family guy are manatees. South park is much more classy than family guy. Even American Dad is better than family guy.
shareDon't get wrong I love both of Seth's shows but family guy definitely needs a whole new staff of writers that know what the hell it's about. It's my favorite show overall but it needs a lot serious work to be fixed.
shareby checkiec (Tue Nov 29 2016 09:52:06)That's called an opinion and is in no way evidence South Park is more popular.

South park has many video games to keep it's popularity relevant.
shareby checkiec (Tue Nov 29 2016 16:47:15) South park has many video games to keep it's popularity relevant.
Currently, there are 7 Family Guy video games. South Park has 6. Granted, next year there will be 2 more for South Park, one more console & one for Android, but as of today you were saying something about the amount of video games indicating popularity?
Family guy's popularity in games declined over the years. That's the proof.

What's the proof, because you typed that? That's not proof.
Google it.

I'm not the one making the claim South Park is more popular based on the opinion of 'better storylines' & having fewer video games than Family Guy.
Not to mention the fact Family Guy has consistently received more viewers. Nothing you have said proves South Park is more popular.
Just because family guy has the higher fanbase doesn't mean it's consistently better.
shareby checkina-64571 (Tue Nov 29 2016 17:57:25)Just because family guy has the higher fanbase doesn't mean it's consistently better.
We're not talking about which show is 'better'. A debate on which show is better is moot as it all boils down to opinion. I suppose we could bring in Emmy Awards & in that case according to the Television Academy, South Park is 'better' since it has been awarded 5 Outstanding Animated Program awards to Family Guy's nada.
Even with that though, that still isn't a determination of 'Popularity'. The main way to determine that for TV is ratings & Family Guy gets more.
I have zero interest in The Walking Dead so for me, Family Guy & South Park are better than that show but clearly TWD is profoundly more popular than both shows put together & either can hope to be.
South park and Family guy are both amazing shows. I'm saying that south park is smarter while family guy is funnier.

And that's wonderful, but bottom line, an opinion, whatever it is, doesn't prove South Park is more popular.
Like I said earlier just Google family guy vs south park and find out which is better.
shareby checkina-64571 (Tue Nov 29 2016 18:35:16)Like I said earlier just Google family guy vs south park and find out which is better.
Again, we're not talking about which is better. What I think is better isn't going to be what you think is better but if there's something, like a TV series that shows 1.78 million people watched the 11|16 episode of South Park & 2.74 million people watched the 11|20 episode of Family Guy, that's a good indicator of which is more popular, just as The Walking Dead's 11 million viewers of their 11|20 episode indicates that show is way more popular.
Also, the same way the numbers show South Park has averaged 1.73 million viewers this season while Family Guy has averaged 3.049 million viewers.
I have numbers to show which is more popular. You have opinions. If you have something definite that shows South Park is more popular that's not opinion based, I'd love to see it.
I know I just agreeing with the person who said that Trey and Matt are smarter business men.

I can see that in a way, they did after all write a Tony winning, hugely successful musical. Seth hasn't had the best of luck when you consider A Million Ways to Die in the West & Ted 2, although Cosmos did well w/ critics & audiences & he did get a Grammy award for his music.
True but I loved both movies though.
shareby checkina-64571 (Tue Nov 29 2016 19:18:51)True but I loved both movies though
I did as well w/ Ted 2, box office wise though, it bombed compared to Ted.
I didn't care for West. The studio spoiled all the funny bits in the previews & I didn't really find them that funny.
Well let's agree to disagree on that.
shareTrey Parker and Matt Stone are so rich because they negotiated a deal where they get 50% of advertisement money and produced a broadway show and a successfull video game and are great businessmen. And saying Family Guy is more popular than South Park because of viewers is unfair since Family Guy is on national television and South Park is on basic cable. Family Guy should be doing much better than it currently is with viewers, as the South Park guys have said they know people watch their show after it's aired on south park studios which they own and they signed a major deal with hulu.
shareTrue but both shows are very smart in their own ways. I was just saying that Family guy needs to be more topical and more serialized to regain momentum in it's current situation. The show needs to go beyond multidimensional in character development.

Post Edited: Tue Nov 29 2016 20:10:06 And saying Family Guy is more popular than South Park because of viewers is unfair since Family Guy is on national television and South Park is on basic cable.
Unfair? I'm not sure if that's the right word to use but like I said, Neilsen numbers are the only method to determine who is watching what show plus, there are cable series that get comparable numbers to network shows, American Horror Story, Fear the Walking Dead, American Crime Story.
Game of Thrones is even on premium cable & their numbers are growing with each season. The mentioned Walking Dead is only behind three other network shows, four if you count 60 minutes. Family Guy should be doing much better than it currently is with viewers
Well using that logic, shouldn't every network show be getting millions of more viewers than cable shows simply because they are on network TV? Some are sure, but not every show. Marvel's Agents of SHIELD & Quantico are both currently averaging in the just over 2 and a half million viewers. The other network shows lowest are in the 4 and 5 million averages but not all cable shows have to be compared to network's lowest, for example if GoT season six's average of 7.69 million viewers would currently be ABC's second highest viewed scripted show, CBS' 12th & NBC's second as well.
Unfair?I'm not really sure how that would be considered "unfair" anyway...
how old are you? do you remember the first few years of southpark? the merchandise was everywhere, I imagine they made a lot of money back then and continued to do so with several huge side projects.
