I didn't get it but it made me laugh out loud because it seemed to random. Or was it? That scene with a series of still pictures of Brian looked like a parody of some kids' book about dogs. Was it? If so, was there a connection between what was being parodied and Farley's death?

I figured it was a reference to Go Dog Go but I didn't get the Chris Farley connection.

Brony who is also a Metallica and Iron Maiden fan.

Yes, I just looked up "Go Dog Go" and it definitely is what was being parodied. although as you say the Chris Farley connection is still elusive. Thanks.

There is no connection between the "Go Dog, Go" book parody and the Chris Farely reference. The Chris Farely line is just a ridiculous reason for the dog to be sad. It's a throwaway gag one-liner that makes you chuckle from the randomness.
