I wonder why they abandoned that part of Stewie's character.

They thought it was getting too old.

It was getting old and he really wasn't trying hard enough. They may be able to go through fifteen seasons not aging him past one, but fifteen seasons of him trying to kill his mom? I would tune out.

I kind of miss those days, but I feel Stewie has more personality nowadays and I think it's more fun seeing Stewie and Brian teaming up on all sorts of mishaps.
