Wow, first my favorite site TVRage shuts down & now IMDb is shutting down its message boards. Evidently the Internet is telling me to find new hobbies. If anything happens to Answers.com, I'll have to quit the Internet. 2 of my 3 favorite time passing things to do on the web are now gone.
Although thinking about it, it's not all that surprising. Even I've made the comments that the boards, at least the ones I visit regularly, have slowed down a lot in the past few years. This one in particular is night and day different in traffic now than it was years ago.
especially since it took me almost 6 years to get my Posting Quota down from an hour to 5 minutes and now it was all for nothing.
I swear yours had to be some type of system glitch.
I've had the red message of the IMDb Gods on my screen for nearly the past 7 years and my posting quota has never changed.
At any rate, we'll miss you Kyle! You were always THE source to go to for information. I'm still waiting for the day that Peter Griffin makes a "Kyle-D cutaway" gag!!!

I can only assume whoever gave me an hour quota 6 years ago was a REALLY big fan of Elizabeth Taylor because they clearly didn't like my joke of "Rihanna was hit hard when Chris Brown told her about Taylor's death".

Thanks, I can honestly say I'll miss this site. I enjoyed answering trivia questions about Seth's shows. Even if I don't get a direct reference, [*fingers crossed* it might happen] I'll always have the almost-maybe-shout-outs.
I mean, yes, it's for all of Seth's cartoons but it's not a requirement to be a fan of all of them. FG lover and AD haters are welcome, and vice versa.
Damn, oh well. Good riddance. The trolls had it coming anyway.
That's the thing though, they aren't getting what was coming to them, the trolls aren't getting any comeuppance. They won which is what sucks the most.
Instead of the administrators actually moderating and dealing with the people who aren't making the boards a "positive, useful experience" they've decided to chuck the whole thing which is stupid. It's like closing the busiest & only grocery store in town because a few people steal.
If IMDb is indeed the "world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content", you'd think they'd want to strive to make its most popular feature the best it can be but evidently not. Instead of doing their jobs they're just quitting and honestly I think driving the first but huge nail into their own coffin.
I also find it rather hard to believe that the "vast majority" of their 250 million+ monthly users are dissatisfied with the boards. I know I was never asked how my experience has been & I can't be the only one. I'd love to know just how many of those 250 million visitors use the boards and if it really is a supposed small number of them.
