I think it is very true. Women in general seem more likely to think things over before making huge decisions regarding money.

If you're serious about making money you pitch anyone.
The problem is when a male needs to consult with his bitch and she wears the pants.

It's also true in retail. I work in menswear, and there have been times, when I've got my hooks in the customer, he tells me he needs his wife's or girlfriend's opinion, approval, or whatever. The next thing that happens is they need to call them or leave and get them. Very rarely do they ever come back. I dread waiting on men who shop with their girlfriend or wife, because there have been times when I have him interested in some clothing, the significant other interjects with her objection. Women think because they shop more than men that they know chapter and verse of menswear, but the fact of the matter is women's fashion and men's fasion are completely different. I've lost sales due to the significant others' objection. They would always say
"you don't need this, you already have blah blah blah" or "it looks blah blah blah." I've pointed out the advantages in the unfounded flaws the women say there are, but somehow they always try to find another way to talk their man out of buying. I even had returns simply because their spouse didn't like it. I've wanted to say "dude, that is only one person's opinion, but, if you need her approval, bring her with you next time." Returns go against my numbers for the week, hence reduce my commissions for the week as well.

For example I was presenting a customer some high quality suits he was very interested in. The sale would have netted me $3000, but then the girlfriend came in and shot down his decision, my sale, and my commission with a minute "no, this looks old-mannish." Her reason: the pick stitching in the hem. I explained that it was not old mannish because the pick stitching in the suit gives it a finely tailored look because it's done by hand, therefore more quality and demonstrates that the wearer can afford adult suits and not the traditionally younger looking suits.

Another time I was pitching a customer a cashmere coat. The wife thought it looked to big on him in his size but I pointed out that the extra room would benefit because it will leave room for to wear his suits in it also. Even though the man was about to buy and the coat was on sale half off, she still persuaded him not to buy it.

As if that weren't enough I also had customers who were about to buy a lot of stuff, but then realized they left their wallet with their partners.

All in all I hate when this happens because it wastes my time away from other potential sales. Everytime it happens I scream in my head "DUDE, GROW SOME *beep* BALLS, THINK FOR YOURSELF AND NOT ABOUT WHAT YOUR WOMAN THINKS."

"Don't pitch the bitch" in the context of this film is about not selling highly speculative, ie risky stock to women. Brokers that specialize in speculative stocks such as "penny dreadfuls" will quite often say the same thing, in general women make less than ideal customers and are tougher to sell to. That is both a compliment and criticism of women's nature, as typically women are more cautious, ask more questions, and more likely to invest smaller amounts.

For a peddler of high risk stocks, women can be a pain in the ass, and thus the line "don't pitch the bitch".

As a financial advisor, mostly men, but sometimes women make the financial decision on INVESTING (about 60/40).

My personal theory here is that most women won't buy a stock over the phone from a broker nearly as often a man would.

SO it's really not saying that women won't buy investments, but just over the phone to an unknown broker is a little less likely.

It was very true, at least for JT Marlin. Part of the reason they could continue to do what they did for so long was because not enough of their clients complained to the SEC... heck, many of their clients, kept on trading with the JT Marlin in spite of massive losses. The reason being that men, moreso than women, have way too much pride and are way too stubborn, and, thus, refuse to admit (to themselves and to others) when they screw up. As a result, rather than complain to the SEC after getting ripped off by JT Marlin most men just bite their tongue and walk away... or, worse, keep right on trading with them. Most women... and, yes, I admit that this is a bit sexist... simply would not stand for this. Many WOULD complain and some of them would would do so loudly and publicly. This, in turn, would make JT Marlin's illegal operations hard to maintain for very long.
