... Why would people give away thousands to a stranger?
I don't understand how people could hand over their life savings based on a 5 minute cold call. Strange.

indeed, it's bizarre.
Season's Greetings!
It is all about the dream of being rich. The guy on the phone has to be a really good salesman though.
share"Dream of being rich??" What about the dream of not losing your $2,000? I could understand plumbers and welfare moms losing their money on stupid things like these, but how do you explain VP's and doctors?
sharePeople give up their cash all the time, based on nothing more than a casual meeting on the street, an email, a connection made on the internet.
VP's and doctors are a dime a dozen (especially VP's). They're just people like anyone else.

i've subscribed to a paper on a cold call....once.
The circulation of confidence is better than the circulation of money.-James Madison
but how do you explain VP's and doctors?
Hey Trackmaster! Your last sentence shows that u are dumber and more ignorant than either of these so-called "lower classes"! Where are you & Navaros from anyway? India??!! Dang!
sharePeople who are liquid want the quick in and out. These pump and dump forms use the ole bait and switch techniques as the biyers end up with some crappy penny stock
shareSimple answer: GREED. The caller is offering them chance to turn their bankroll into much more. The mark just sees the $$$ and doesn't stop to think.
You would think it woukdn't happen anymore, but there are STILL people who fall for the Nigerian prince email scam.
I have a new philosophy. I'm only going to dread one day at a time.
Exactly. They don't depict the penny stock thing in this movie but if someone called you up and said they had a stock selling at $1 a share and that this company is about to announce something big and that that stock could be worth $10 or more quickly, why wouldn't you take the risk.
shareI have no idea. Must be the same people who actually click on Internet ads. I never even pay attention to the ads, but SOMEONE must be making Google rich all these years.
shareThe initial investment wasn't a big deal but once the stock plummeted Harry should not of invested his entire life savings...If you are going to reinvest then don't put your entire life savings into it...That was incredibly stupid on Harry's part...
So you do have a plan? Yeah, Mr. White! Yeah, science!
I always think of this quote from Michael Scott of the office.
You know what Toby, when the son of the deposed king of Nigeria emails you directly, asking for help, you help! His father ran the freaking country! Ok?
One word...greed.
