There’s no way John Connor was 13 during the events of T2

In this movie, John’s narration says that he was 13 when the T-1000 was sent back to kill him. And he later mentions that he knew Katherine Brewster in Junior High before he met the androids from the future. But he was born in 1985 (Sarah was pregnant with him at the end of the first film, which took place in 1984).

So if he was 13 and born in 1985, then this would mean the events of T2 took place in 1998. This cannot be, since obviously Judgment Day was supposed to take place on August 29th, 1997. This is mentioned in the movie several times. So how could T2 take place AFTER the war with the machines was supposed to happen? There’s no way, obviously.

Also, in T2 Dr. Silberman states that Sarah is 29 years old. If that’s the case then she would have only been 16 in the first film if it took place 13 years before T2 (according to what John said his age was in this film). No way was she only 16 with her own apartment, full time job, and not being in school. Plus she looked older.

I do realize that Edward Furlong was 13 during the filming of T2 and definitely looked like it. But the character couldn’t be since the movie obviously can’t take place in 1998. Also, the screen that the T-1000 looks at in the police car states that John’s current age is 10. Even though he clearly looked 13, he had to have been 10 in order for the timeline to make sense.

You're not very good in math I see

How so? 1985 + 13 = 1998 and 16 + 13 = 29

My bad

he was 10 in T2

any other information is incorrect

I agree. I was just pointing out that this movie (T3) incorrectly stated that he was 13 and in Junior High during the events of T2.

Yeah, always noticed this. Their math isn't mathing. My theory is that Furlong's puberty hitting during filming T2 is kind of the root cause of all this. I think Furlong legit looked like he could be 10 when he was cast and starting filming T2. It's most apparent in some of the desert scenes where he looks really young; clearly some of the first scenes shot. But most of the film he definitely looks like a teen, even though we explicitly get age 10 in the police computer. I remember people used to complain that there's no way John Connor looked like a 10 year old, and everyone thought of him as more of a rebellious teen. So then come T3...everyone thinks of John as this rebellious teen, so IDK if they unintentionally wrote him as 13 instead of 10, or if was some sort of retcon. Which is a mistake as you pointed out when you start talking dates.

Yeah. That was a mistake on the film makers' part. Then again, this movie just forcefully has a premise that Judgement Day happens without the remaining parts of the 1984 Terminator. Skynet just gets created out of nothingness. Still has memorable action scenes though.
