Great! Would be funny if they'd cast Samantha Morton for the role, haha. Another good choice, in my opinion (if they have to cast a known name), would be Lucy Liu, but she's already tied to the "Elementary" series.

Come to think of it, this "Minority Report" series might very well become too similar to "Elementary"; another male savant coupled to a female detective.

The big challenge however will be how they're going to depict a convincing, yet cool-looking totalitarian society of the year 2064 (which the movie did very well; with the cool technological gimmicks and societal changes and all).

in what way would that be funny if they chose Samantha Morton? I could see say Natalie Portman or Gemma Aterton taking female role, and this is set 10 years after the film so be some changes

reply

Because she's a great actress and it would be funny to see her in this Minority Report universe in a completely different role as a different character with a different personality than the precog that she played in the original movie. And I think she can easily pull it off.

In my opinion, Portman and Arterton are too "princess-y", too fragile and too sweet to be believable as detectives.

Oh I see what your saying but this is set 10 years later so not sure they want to bring a character from the film back in the the series,

In my opinion, Portman and Arterton are too "princess-y", too fragile and too sweet to be believable as detectives. That is like saying Stana Katic who plays Kate Beckett in Castle couldn't do it because of that look-an ex gf of mine who I was with for 3 years was very pretty princess-y and was a police detective so don't see your point

I actually agree with Yurenchu. I reckon she'd be great for the role as a) it'd probably be her calibre of show, b) she's got the background knowledge already and will want to do it justice and c) fans of the film would probably be more inclined to watch it.

There'd be an element of respectability if Morton got the role, whereas fans might be put off if the entire crew were new to the concept. I refuse to watch Fargo the TV series because the film was so good. Had Steve Buscemi been in the TV series, it might have been a different matter.

for the films ske and this being set 10 years later I do see your point, but having them 2 other actress's would also work!
who is Norton?or you mean Morton

In your previous post it seemed you didn't see the point...

And yes, M is quite close to N on the keyboard.

Your grammar, however, is awful.

I wasn't saying that Morton should play the Agatha character again. Just that it would pique my interest if Morton played the new protagonist. I hadn't thought of it but karlhinze raises a good point that Morton, since she's already got the background knowledge, would probably do the show justice and also add that extra flavor to the show that makes it connect with fans of the movie; and that could make a big difference.

However, if they find a different good actress who is suitable for the role, then that's also okay with me of course.

In my view, Stana Katic (who is tall, muscular and agile) is much better able to pass as a tomboy than Portman and Arterton, so I wouldn't put Katic in the same category. And I think the series would probably feature a lot of action scenes hence it needs a rather hard-boiled cop, performed by an actress who is believable in the role. If the actress looks too princess-y, the show might not catch on with its target audience, regardless of how many police detectives in the real world indeed have that look.

My thoughts...Crap! will not follow some female show based on a mediocre at best sci-fi movie with more plot holes than a swiss cheese...
