Music Question...Forrester's Bicycle Ride Through The Bronx Streets

I have a few questions regarding the music played as Forrester is riding his bike through the streets of the Bronx.
What is the name of the tune?
Artist?
What is the featured instrument?
(In my mind I'm thinking a Carribean or African intrument ... possibly made of Bamboo?)
Is it an old tune? (I was watching the movie "Badlands" with Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacec (1973) and thought the same tune was being played but couldn't swear to it.)

" Three can keep a secret... if two are dead "

Piddle. I was wondering more like why a man who hadn't been out of his apartment other than to clean the windows -- sitting on the sill -- would even have a bicycle? Or would be able to navigate crowded city street so well without even a hint of anxiety? They showed anxiety when he was going out for an evening with Jamal, but not a bit of it here.

Every now and then this otherwise good movie would take a trip away from anything approaching reality.

When evil is viewed as good, righteousness is viewed as evil.

You've never heard the saying "It's like riding a bike...once you learn, you never forget".

And really, is it that far of a stretch that a guy who has lived in the same neighborhood for 50 years and not been out of his house for most of them, would still have a bike? The scene shows him putting air in the tires, indicating it hadn't been used in a while. It's also obviously a very old bike.

I think there are a lot of other stranger questions to be answered. How does a man who hasn't left his apartment since before the Kennedy Administration have in his possession and know who to use a Camcorder? Shouldn't he be using an old film SLR camera? That seems like a greater improbability than a 70 year old guy still owning a 50 year old bicycle.

The tune is called Gassenhauer, by Carl Orff. Yes, it was also used in the soundtrack for the movie Badlands. Couldn't tell you what the instrumentation was for this piece so your guess is as good as mine, but google might help now that you know the name.

i guess it was a xylophone or in that family

A cousin to "Gassenhauer" would be the theme to True Romance ("You're So Cool").
