Sole Survivor was like a zombie movie, people returning from the dead.

To be fair, Sole Survivor was made before the Final Destination films.

It was the original "Final Destination" that made me seek out "Sole Survivor". I had read about it in a movie book and thought the storylines sounded similar. Once I finally tracked down a copy I didn't find they were much alike other than the similar plotpoint. "Final Destination" is really just a supernatural slasher with some really creative death scenes. "Sole Survivor" is much more like "Carnival of Souls".

Does anyone know anything about the idea that actual survivors of plane crashes die within a year or so of the crash? The movie book I read about "Sole Survivor" in mentions this in the review of the movie but I've not been able to find anything else about this. Probably just an urban myth but I'd love to read more.

Meh.

I thought "The Survivor" starring Jenny Agutter was much like Carnival of Souls.

"Carnival of Souls" is a much better comparison. This movie isn't about "cheating death" – it's about being death incarnate.

I thought it was a good movie but I wouldn't say it was like a zombie movie, supernaturel more or less. The ending was a bit cheesy though but I sort it expected it to turn like that. The acting was great too.

Well, I think it's a little more sophisticated than that! I love the Final Destination movies, but I also like the more subtle suspense building in Sole Survivor.
