I remember a movie similar to this about death sending dead people to kill a woman who survived a near death experience. The last "zombie" was a kid on a skateboard.

That would be Carnival of Souls (1962). It has the same premise, I really love this movie, so I think I'll give Sole Survivor a watch too.
