The bottom line is this: VINCE owns the WWE. A lot of people say theyd never do what HBK Did, youre all lying. You do what your boss says. If your boss says to take his wife out to her car, you do it. If your boss says sweep, you do it. Bottom line is, Bret Screwed Bret. In the wrestling buis, you lose the title. It happens all the time, when youre going to a new company, you job, you lose. That is the way of the buisness. Bret should have lost the title, and none of this would have happened.
Bret says he wouldnt take the title to WcW, but would he have? Eric Bischoff said hed let Bret wrestle the next night and lose the title, would he have? Bret should have lost to HBK, and the end, move on. Sadly, this hurt Brets career horrible. IT was a sad situation all around.

True ...in the biz when you are going to leave a company you job. But brett was owed more than that. He asked to just get through that night and Vince was scared. Brett had alot of respect for the biz. He wouldnt have taken the strap to WCW. In order to insure the result....no countout, no DQ Vince showed up when they got out of the ring. HHH was told by bretts wife "god is gonna stike u down". BAM........Tore the Quad.... not once but now twice! But dont feel bad for TERRA RYZIN ( HA HA ) Now he has married into the family, impregnated Stephanie and given Vince a grandchild. All for keepin his mouth shut. Wow! I should have stayed in the biz longer. Nah...... then I would be workin for vince as a bottom tier wrestler. ( thats how they treat.....ahem ....people.)

Bret didn't want to lose the title simply because it was in Canada. If you were from London for example and had wrestled for a company for sixteen years while dedicating yourself to that company... would you want your last match to end with a loss to your most hated rival in your home country? That is the kiss of death. Bret deserved better. They should have at least made the venue for Survivor Series in 1997 in America so it would have been better, but in Canada geesh.

fyi about HBK: He wasn't doing what Vince told him to do, it was partially his idea.

Would he taken the title to WcW, probably not.
As Jim Cornette said, it wasnt bout trusting Bret, it was about can you trust Eric Bischoff, who said he would NOT announce he just bought Bret.
How does it look for the WWF if Bret leaves as champ and goes to WcW "the WWF champion." You own the WWF it was a risk you couldnt take.
