Will have to revisit the American version

I've always been a huge fan of Ringu and have been adamant that the Japanese version beats the US by miles. I've based this judgement on one viewing of the American version vs countless viewings of the Japanese version.

It's interesting to read some folk here prefer the US version and particularly site the videotape itself as being scarier. I've always found the video footage in Ringu to be incredibly creepy and quite terrifying. I remember the first time I saw this and it had a strange affect on me and made me feel ill at ease for a very long time afterwards, similar to the effect Inland Empire has on me.

It's been so long since my single viewing of the US version that I need to re-watch and make another judgement on it, however I suspect the Japanese version will win.
