White Shoes Woman

The only scene in the film that I didn't understand was when the person wearing white shoes approaches Ryuji while he's writing his essay and just stands there, to which Ryuji responds (or the English subtitles say) "Was it you? Did you do this?" and then the person disappears. It never comes up again, and is never explained. Does anyone know the significance of the scene?

I always assumed that was the 'ghost' of Sadako that approached him, since he was psychic, and hence able to see her. No idea why she had shoes on though...

It was Sadako. Watch closely when she is bludgeoned and tossed into the well, she is wearing white shoes.

that was the freakiest part in the movie to me
