Movie Fanny vs. Book Fanny
Completely and totally different. The Fanny portrayed in the movie is too much like the Mary Crawford character in the book. Fanny in the book is very placid, kind, gentle, and would never imagine saying many of the things the Fanny in the movie says.
Mary Crawford and Fanny are meant to be foils to each other, but in the movie they are very similar. I still like this movie, but honestly, in this version, there is no reason for Fanny to choose Edmond over Henry. It is not who Edmond and Henry are, but who Fanny is, that prompts her to choose Edmond in the book. In the movie, there is no clear moral propriety in Fanny's character.
