Justine Waddell would have made a great Fanny Price

But she was cast in the minor role of Julia Bertram. Justine Waddell played the central character Molly Gibson in 'Wives and Daughters' (1999) and was quite wonderful. Elizabeth Gaskell's Molly Gibson is a similar character in a number of ways to Jane Austen's Fanny Price.

If only a television mini-series had been made around 1999 of 'Mansfield Park' that was as good as 'Wives and Daughters' with Justine Waddell as Fanny.

I love Justine Waddell. Yes, she could have pulled it off. But I still liked Frances O'Connor. She did a good job.

I agree. I loved her in Wives and Daughters. I could definitely see her as Frannie.

I've thought the same many times over the years. Also mystified over why Justine has so few lines in this, a great talent completely underutilized.

I loved Justine in Tess of the D'Urbervilles, and I think she would have made a really good Fanny.
