So, it's basically 3 Amigos...

...in space.

reply

Now that you mention it.

It's also a better Star Trek than any of the theatricals except maybe Save the Whales.

In my experience a LOT of Trek fans will rank Galaxy Quest near the top when listing their favorite Star Trek movies.

The big difference being this movie is funny. Three Amigos wasn't.

¡¡Shut your mouth!!

¡ ¡Three Amigos! is a timeless classic!

Never saw it. But I would hate to think a person would tell me I had a plethora and find out that person had no idea what it means to have a plethora.

Forgive me, El arbilab. I know that I, Zero_Wolf, do not have your superior intellect and education. ¿But could it be that once again, you are angry at something else, and are looking to take it out on me?

Seek of, you do not understand weemen. You cannot force open the petals of a flower. When the flower is ready it opens itself up to you.

Could it be because I am turning 70 in March? Nah. Could it be because Raquel Welch chooses to sleep in her condo instead of weeth me? Mm.

Three Amigos had its moments.

Martin Short emptying half a canteen of dirt into his mouth. Still makes me giggle like a kid.

...then whoa, differences...

Just saw G.Q. and enjoyed it quite a bit. Three Amigos I LOVED when I was a kid, but I saw it a few years ago and was disappointed. I'll try again one day...it did have its moments.

Three Amigos is hilarious!

Tonight or i will kill her

Would you like to take a walk and kiss me on the veranda?...the lips would be fine.

reply

You did it incorrectly. It's supposed to be: ...IN SPACE!!!!!!!!!!

"I don't want a bloody avatar!" -paraphrased from BQQ's annoyances with IMDb's stupidity

reply

You haven't watched enough Muppet Show.

It's supposed to be: "Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACEEEEEEEEEEE!!"

reply

Sort-of.

They do have similar set-ups, but Three Amigos and Galaxy Quest are very different beasts.

And I do honestly believe that Galaxy Quest is a much stronger film that holds up a lot more, especially on repeated viewings over time. It's one of those movies... It's been out 17 years, and I've watched it at least a few times every single year since it's come out. It never stops entertaining and never stops charming you, and you never stop loving it, no matter how many times you see it.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?

Good night Ned

I've been shot already!

I've seen things that would make you want to write a book on how to puke.

Add Tropic Thunder to the list of films with a similar theme where actors are put into a situation to play out their characters because someone thinks their characters are real.

I think there was even a nod to three amigos with this line:

"As long as there is injustice, whenever a Targathian baby cries out, wherever a distress signal sounds among the stars, we'll be there."

I guess they're both sort of references to Tom Joad's famous speech in The Grapes of Wrath though.
