Well Done Scary Kids' Movie

Last night I rewatched The Haunting of Barney Palmer for the first time since the 1980s, also for the first time since reading the book titled The Haunting. As the screenplay was written by the author, it is very true to the book. It holds up remarkably well. It may not have had a very large budget, but the special effects are incredibly effective. The boy who played the child Cole Scholar looked a lot like Ned Beatty who played the adult. At one point there is an awesome dissolve from the child to the adult face. The child also looked a lot like the boy who played Barney. The actors are brothers so were a perfect choice to play relatives. I highly recommend this somewhat scary movie for at least age 7 and up. It was perfect for Halloween viewing and I was glad to see it again.
