Tom’s age
It’s never stated, I know John Thaw was 56 (looks a lot older though) when this was aired, but if you look at the tombstone his wife and child died in 1917, his wife was aged 27 and son was 5, but we could assume that he’d be around 60 in 1939 and had served in the navy, maybe mid-60s, also William turns 10, and it’s mentioned when Greenway, the man with the Doctor who William is terrified of says to him that when Tom would be 70, William would still be a teenager by then, we can assume that Tom would be aged between 61-67 in the story as the age of a teenager is technically 13-19, though 18 and 19 both found as an adult age
