When I first saw the movie, I didn't get that joke... at all.

Growing up was nice.

One prime example was when Scott Caan talks about sitting on his hand for 10 minutes until it goes numb then rubbing one out..... he calls it the stranger. I had no idea wtf he was talking about.... having a numbing sensation in your hand? Weird but whatever.....

And, like the OP says, then I grew up.

Yeh, most the film I didn't get when I was younger, even the opening bit when he says 'I wana see your insides' and she says to turn to page 58. I knew the reference from Scream because the opening scene from that scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, but watching it for the first time in 15 years last year I finally clicked on. :-P

I get the feeling that I think I get it, but I actually don't get it.  But hey, maybe I'm awesome and I do get it. 
