Ignoring Commodus at the end Seems Odd (spoiler)

I get that the Caesar is the villain, and he has earned the contempt of those of us familiar with what he has done.... but I found the manner in which he is completely ignored after his murder ridiculous.

To most people in the coliseum he is their leader, one who brought them the spectacle. They do not know of his evil shenanigans and how he rose to power. To just leave him lying on the ground with no one else so much as looking in his direction seemed a bit incredulous.

the people in the crowd didn't have access to the arena floor

Right... but what about all the soldiers, guards and other staff on the arena floor? In other fights some of these people would carry off the dead. In this case no one even glanced at him as he bled out. You would think at least the nephew would be somewhat conflicted.

He is completely forgotten as the scene goes on -- it seemed a bit weird to me.

it's a fair point - but many emperors were killed by their own staff - and then simply left for dead - so i never saw this as implausible
