Is it because she was helping Brandon/Teena, or because she was making so much noise, or did they assume she was in on the 'dyke' problem? That's the one part I didn't get. If you could help me out it would be much appreciated.
In the movie they said "If there's other people in there, you gotta take care of them." implying that any other murders at the farmhouse would be by chance just to silence any witnesses. But in real life, John Lotter and Marvin Nissen were really angry when they burst in the house, and Lisa Lambert ( the person Candace is based off of ) refused to tell them where Brandon was...so that could have implied that she was trying to protect him, and that the killers killed her for that reason. Or it could have been a little bit of both. Hard to tell. Either way it's horrendous. Lisa Lambert was murdered on her bed with her baby sitting up against her right arm.
Candace technically brought Brandon into the group so that's probably where a lot of it came from. and she kept him in her house when she found out. then they also seemed to be trying to kill every witness there was. it looked like Tom was going to kill Lana as well but John stopped him. obviously they wouldn't have killed the baby either
Well in real life, Tom and John never brought Lana with them when they went to the house to kill Brandon/Teena. The reason they killed everyone in the house was to not leave any witnesses, the baby was the exception because it was too young to identify them.
I think it's part ''Kill any witnesses'' (except for Lana, because she won't rat anyway) part ''She's harbouring a Brandon'' and Part ''She's protecting him''
There are a lot of reason's for Candace's death. But even I have to agree, her death was completely pointless and unnecessary outside of the fact that it happened in real life. My heart broke at the sight of the baby around the dead mother. Tears and all, my heart broke.
From what I read, I don't think Candace existed. She was a fictional character for the sake of drama. Though a woman was actually killed in the same house as was Brandon, her name wasn't Candace. Incidentally, the real Lana had a friend named Michelle who knew Brandon, but after Brandon was murdered, Michelle fled Lincoln [and probably Nebraska] to avoid the fallout and attention.

I don't think that 'Candace' ever existed, she was a character that was created in order to add more drama. I read quite an article on this tragedy, and the only other person killed that night was a black gent who happened to be staying there at the time... Also, Lana had this pal named Michelle who, after the shooting, left Lincoln in order to avoid being caught up in the controversy that followed.
