crap ending

the end of the series was crap. making the good guys die and shao kahn win. although it was unexpected, so it was a good twist.

You're right, it was a good twist, so therefore a good ending.

The series wasn't actually meant to finish there. It was cancelled before they got a chance to film the second series.

reply

Cancelled despite the fact that the show had a strong fan base and was decently successful.

Apparently the production cost was going to be too much for them, so they crapped out and cancelled the show on the cliffhanger.

thats too bad...I tried to watch the show every time it was on, i was like 13 or 12 but damnn, it was an awsome show :D

No, I agree with the first poster, it was a crap ending.

Even if it was meant to be a cliff-hanger for the next series, it was a dumb and risky way to do it. It has now totally soured the enjoyment of the first 20 eps.

Ok, maybe yes, turn it around and make Shao Kahn seemingly win, but it was done so heavily handed it seemed cheap and lazy. Suddenly, unstoppable henchmen appear and kill everyone without even breaking a sweat. The heroes go down instantly without so much of a heroic surge. Thats just plain pathetic and makes the last 8 eps of a great war build-up a waste.

Worst Ending of Any Series Ever. Whoever allowed that script to be green-lighted should never work in entertainent again along with the writer.

Yeah, it was a bad ending but apparently it was all a dream of Kung Lao's. Steve Hattman (also an executive producer) wrote the last episode and it doesn't look like he's worked on anything since. Sean Catherine Derek and James Cappe wrote the penultimate episode and in seven years, they've written a couple of episodes/films.

It was not a bad ending. It was a spectacular cliffhanger. The show was not intended to end with that episode. Its unforunate that it got cancelled, leaving us with a season finale in which almost all the main characters (and several recurring characters) are killed. Again, the producers were fully expecting to get renewed for a second season, which is why they chose to end season 1 on such a huge cliffhanger. Besides, all shows do that anyway. It was definately not a bad ending. Technically, it wasn't an ending at all. The show just happened to get cancelled with that episode.

Also, the final episode was NOT supposed to be Kung Lao's dream. It stated on the official MK website how they would have opened season 2, had the show not been cancelled. It would have began with Rayden still locked in Kahn's dungeon, after having been tortured over and over again. He prays to the Elder Gods, asking them why they allowed this to happen. The Elder Gods then come forth and to punish Kahn, they put everything back the way it was - bringing all those dead characters back to life and returning them to where they belong (Shang Tsung was even supposed to be sent back to the mines). The show would then be able to continue on normally.

Again, Vengeance was not a bad ending. It was a wonderful cliffhanger that left us dying to see more (just like every other show ends their seasons with cliffhangers). Its just a damn shame that it got cancelled on that cliffhanger.

That's even worse. Leave it with a great cliffhanger, then change everything back to exactly how it was? What's even the point of the episode then? Personally, I liked it as the ending to the series.
