Firefly became 'Serenity', why not make Conquest a film???

Joss Whedon managed to make his cult series, 'Firefly' into a feature film that had moderate success but a huge cult following and critical acclaim.
I would classify MKConquest as a cult series so why don't threshold or someone else just make a feature film out of it to tie up the loose ends from the end of the axed series 1? It's pretty obvious right now that MK: Devastation isn't going anywhere and probably won't for years, and i'm sure the original actors will be pretty easy to get as their careers aren't so crash hot right now. Anyway it would be a great way to end the series with kung lao vs goro as it was meant to be. Thoughts?

I would love to see the series wrapped up properly. But it isn't going to happen. Serenity was made only four years after Firefly was cancelled (only 2 years after the DVD's were released).

It has already been seven years since MKC was cancelled, and it hasn't even been released on DVD. Also, you said it yourself, MK Devastation isn't moving along at all. Nevertheless, Threshold is focusing all their attention on it at the moment. They are going to reinvent the franchise with that film (it will have nothing to do with the first 2 movies or MKC). There is no way they will make a movie based on a cancelled show before they make a brand new and original MK film. Making a MKC movie would be financial suicide for them.

Again, I would love to see a final MKC movie, but in business terms, it just doesn't make sense to do one (especially seeing as how even Serenity failed at the box office). And that is what you have to keep in mind - The filmmakers are out to make money, not make sure their cancelled show has a proper ending. That is of no concern to them.

Serenity is a one-in-a-million exception. And the Firefly fans had massive campaigns about getting that show out on DVD. MKC has its fans who are demanding the DVDs, but they (we) are not taking the same initiative as the Firefly fans did. Maybe we should.

Are you from the U.S? i'm from australia and we've had the show in stores on dvd for about 6 months now. So suprising it hasn't come out over there yet seeing thats the country where it was made. Then again the first mortal kombat film has only just been released on dvd over here so who knows how it all works.
Do you have connections to threshold? Do you know for sure that thats their main focus right now (MKD).

Yes, I am from the U.S. I don't know why the series has not been released on DVD here. It doesn't make sense, seeing as how MK is such a popular and successful franchise. I know the series is out in Australia, and I would have bought them off ebay or something, but my TV cannot handle the PAL format.

I do not have a connection to Threshold. But various sources have stated that right now, Threshold is set to release their latest film, an animated movie titled Foodfight. Once that is taken care of, MK3 is what they are doing next.

I don't know if you're up on the latest news regarding MK3, but Robin Shou was recently informed that he will not be starring in the film. That revelation also revealed that the new film will not be a sequel, nor will it be related to the other films in any way. MKD will be a whole new take on the MK franchise (a la Batman Begins).

Us Aussies have done the deed and got it on DVD.

It would be good to make a "conquest" movie. Though it will be a made-for-t.v one. IT would also be good to make one out of The Crow: Stairway to heaven.

It would be good, but I get the feeling it won't happen.
As of today, both Conquest and Firefly are cult series', but Conquest doesn't have anywhere near the popularity that Firefly has.

I believe that the best way to wrap up the series would be to have a short information thing at the start of Devastation - showing the showdown between Kung Lao the first, and Goro the Large, with Goro ripping his Lao's head off.

Cut to the future, and show.... i don't know, something else in the script...

That way we get conquest finished in movie version, but the rest of the movie stuff in it too.

...i'm too tired to use proper words, or explain correctly, I hope you guys understand what I mean...
