shareThis is definately not canon.The original Kung Lao was killed by Goro.So having Kung Lao,Shang Tsung and Kitana killed by Shadow Priests along with everyone else who opposed Shao Kahn just destroys the entire Mortal Kombat storyline.
shareRumor has it that the second season was to reveal this as a dream Kung Lao had in some sort of stasis. Also it was apparent that Shao Kahn broke the rules by going in to Earth Realm, and the ending to Annihilation shows that in such an occurance things can be undone.
Not to mention I'm willing to be the series would've ended with Goro killing Kung Lao.
