I have a few qualms about the first episode

I have a few qualms about the first episode:
1.Kung Lao's reaction to the Baron denying his request:He acted like a child plus the Baron was right,he was in no position to financially support Gen.
2.Siro's confession to the Baron:I don't know why he did that,it was career suicide. He should have just told the Baron that they had run off and nothing more.
3.Kung Lao not killing Shang Tsung:If he had just killed him his life would have been a lot easier!!!
4.The Baron forcing himself on Taja:Was he abusive towards women?

It does. But why didn't Kung Lao TELL the Baron that he would be earning money for winning the tournament? And you're right about Takeda reporting Siro.Shang Tsung dying would have screwed up the first movie,so it's good that he didn't die.Siro seemed to interrupt the Baron on purpose. Was he trying to SAVE Taja?

reply

Siro didn't care about saving Taja. She was just a thief to him. In fact, he was about to kill her earlier until Kung Lao stopped him. As for why he confessed to the Baron - its simple. Siro is a man of honor. He faced his responsibility and was fully willing to accept the consequences of his actions.

reply

Yes,I know that he tried to kill her. It's just that he interrupted to Baron so abruptly that it gave me the impression that he wanted to stop the Baron and didn't approve of what he was doing.

Bloodshed?Do you think that the baron would have gotten violent with Taja? And if he disliked the baron, then why did he work for him?

I agree with the overall point of this topic. The first episode was very dumb with the exception of seeing where scorpion came from and the fight between Kung Lao and Shang Stung.

I think it's kind of dumb that Shang Stung is in a prison for as much as I have watched up too so far (episode 13 I just watched today). Nothing have ever been said about him going to prison in the games or movies from what I remember.

I personally wasn't that happy with how they introduced Scorpion into the storyline.I always thought that Scorpion was an escaped soul from hell.I always had the theory that he escaped from the Netherrealm just like Quan Chi in order to exact revenge on Sub-Zero.

1: It's pretty obvious the Baron doesn't care about Jen or her financial security (callng her his property is a good hint), he is shaking Kung Lao down for a price, and Kung Lao is poor so the Baron says feck off. Kung Lao was not going to let a greedy old baron deny him of his love, the guy is a warrior ffs, as cheesy as that sounds.

2: Siro is all about honour, he would not leave Kung Lao because "I gave my word, and that means something to me". He had to tell the Baron what he did, for himself.

3: Kung Lao was (wrongly) trying to show the warriors of Outworld and other realms about compassion and value for life.

4: Of couse he was abusive towards women, it's made clear early that the Baron is a grade A a$$-hole, look at how he acts towards his own daughter. He would rape Taja andnot think twice about it, that's what she's there for. It's not nearly as rediculous as the Baron suddenly becoming a born-again Christian after he is impaled and about to die.

reply

Well, that scene where he grabs Taja by the hair and force kisses her got me thinking that he was trying to teach her a lesson.I never thought about the possibility that he was going to rape anybody.I also got the feeling that Siro interrupted the kiss to save Taja.Maybe him confessing to him allowing Gen to leave with Kung Lao was the only thing he could think of to change the baron's focus. And I guess killing Shang Tsung so early would make for a boring show. But the way Shang Tsung survived his battle with Kung Lao was stupid.

I should have known those alien bastards boobytrapped this sub.

No, the Baron is a bad man.

Remember, "the people of Earth are not murderers" and as he says later, that is why Raiden values them most of all. All other realms are filled with scum and killers, Kung Lao and Raiden are trying to show the value of life.
