Why did Kung Lao return to Shakana?

Why did Kung Lao return to Shakana?He was pretty much done there and there was no reason to go back there.Rayden could have easily left the portal,why stay there just to talk to Shao Kahn?I mean that's just stupid!!!

I really don't understand why Kung Lao decided it was his job to SAVE Raiden.Raiden is a GOD,I'm pretty sure he can take care of himself!!!

Plus Raiden could have just exited the portal and attacked the Shadow Priests and saved Kung Lao.But he just stood there like an idiot and yelled a warning,which obviously didn't help ANYBODY.

I should have known those alien maggots booby trapped this sub.

This was the way they made it a cliff hanger for the end of Season One. I Agree with you, but if that had happened, where would they leave it for the end of Season One. Of course, if season two had eventuated, this would have been resolved as mentioned in other posts according to the MKC website back from the day. But this was a pretty bleak ending for season one. Just would have liked to have seen season 2.
