Sexuality seems even more intense than other R rated film. I actually think it should have been rated X.

reply

I don't know about that there alot of films out there then that should be rated X. Original Sin, Fight Club and The Beach.

The "X" rating is usually reserved for pornos. It specifically means that nobody under the age of 21 (with or without a guardian) can enter the theater.

There is a rating between "R" and "X" which is NC-17. The stripper movie Showgirls, the film Y Tu Mama Tambien, and also Requiem for A Dream were rated NC-17 when they were in theaters (there have since been made R versions of them for rentals and DVDs).

"R" means no admittance under 17 without an adult, NC-17 means no admittance under 17 regardless.

Sorry Ron but your way off.

The "X" rating was replaced by NC-17 in 1990, since X was associated with porn in most peoples mind, the MPAA dropped it since it was the only rating which they didn’t paten so anybody could use it. Thus "X" is no longer a rating used to classify movies. NC-17 means the same thing.
Also you had to be 18 NOT 21 to see an X rated film back in the day. On top of this it didn’t matter if you were accompanied by an adult, the theatre was still not supposed to let you in regardless if it was “X” rated.

Y Tu Mama Tambien and Requiem for a dream both surrendered their NC-17 ratings and opted to go "unrated" instead, because the directors refused to cut their films. Strangely enough, more theatres will carry your film if its "unrated" then if it was NC-17, even though the same admittance rules apply to both of them.

Lowes theaters consider them self a chain of “family theatres”. But all the B.S really means is that they won’t carry any NC-17 films because they consider them to be pornographic, when in reality that’s not always the case. The MPAA are just a bunch of stuck up religious pricks, who reside form the suburbs and are a jury of Soccer moms and Dads. Anything to do with heavy amounts of violence, sexual language (Kevin Smiths “Clerks” was first given an NC-17 just for offensive dialogue) and nudity, they feel shouldn’t be seen by anybody under 17, regardless if there’s a moral to the characters actions. (i.e the movie “L.I.E” which came out last year).

Don't know about "Original Sin" or "Fight Club," but I did see "The Beach." The sex there didn't seem as raw there as it did in "Tigerland." Not even when that guy was pinching Leonardo diCaprio's penis in a jealous fit.

NC-17 is very graphic violence or soft core porn. X and XXX is hardcore porn ;) as for movies being rated NC-17, i heard that Scareface, Dead Presidents, and Natural Born Killers were all rated NC-17 until they cut certain scenes.

Also dont forget Mignight Cowboy which even with an X rating won an Academy Award for best picture.

In the wonderful land of Oz (Australia) this movie is rated MA 15+, meaning persons under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. And, if not for the scene with the two New York girls swinging back and forth, this movie could have had a PG rating here in Oz.

There is no validity for any allegiance given by force.
